Zaffar Akbar Bhat also expressed serious concern over the present situation in Pakistan. While extending solidarity with the victims of Lahore blast, he strongly condemned it and termed such acts as brutal, inhuman and terrorist activities .He urged Taliban to shun the path of violence and start dialogue process to reach a justified solution. He further said that such activities caused a great harm to the cause of Islam and Pakistan as well.

Srinagar: May 26, 2009. (PCPSr.Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement Zaffar Akbar Bhat in a statement has praised Secretary General of OIC Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu. "Kashmir is a core issue between Pakistan and India; other outstanding issues cannot settled without acceptable and durable resolution of Kashmir,” Bhat said. Zaffar reiterated that are several instances in which two countries agreed to go for the agreements in the Past, but when Kashmir is put on back burner -- yielded no results !.Zaffar Akbar maintained that OIC being the responsible realm, therefore it is mandatory upon them to solve the much vexed issue of Kashmir-bone of contention between two nuclear powers of the subcontinent. It is worth to mention that the tense situation there is still at a standstill due to the failure to implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. My special envoy to Jammu Kashmir has paid a visit to both Islamabad and Muzaffarabad to discuss developments in this connection, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of OIC, while addressing 36th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers at Damascus had said.Earlier on Monday Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq hailed the statement of OIC and urged the organization to send a team to the divided parts of Kashmir to assess the ground situation.“We welcome the statement of OIC, they can not only raise the issue of Kashmir in International forums but can play an important role in resolving the long pending Kashmir issue,” said APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement ,Zaffar Akbar Bhat ,who is under house arrest for the past 11 days ,Tuesday appealed to the people of north Kashmir for complete boycott of ensuring parlimantary polls on Wednesday.
Zaffar ,according to a JKSM statement ,urged people of kupwara ,varmul and Bandipora districts not to be carried away by the gimmicks of pro-inda politicians and stay indoor on may 13 .
He said the people of kashmir had offered supreme sacrifices of life and property for the freedom of their homelande ,not not for any election or selection .He demended resolution of Kashmir issue through tri-partite talks.
Meanwhile ,a deligation of JKSM led by its leader Molvi Ab .Rashid on Tuesday visited to residence of Ab.Qayoom to express solidarity with him on the demise of his daughter who was crushed to death by an army vehicle.

when the news of martyrdom of Bashir Ahmad Sofi spread,the Chairman of JKSM send a cetral team to take part in the nimaz e jinazah of Bashir Ahmad Sofi who has been martyred by an army vehicle at pampore.Zaffar Akbar Bhat while paying rich tributes to the departed soul remembered his sacrifices and said that the blood of martyers will on day bear fruit Insha-Allah.He prayed Allah to let the depature soul rest in peace and alongwith all other martyers of Jammu and Kashmir abode in the Jannah.
