Zaffar Akbar Bhat expresses gratitude to PakistanConcerns over the new discovered gravesSrinagar, August 20: The APHC leader and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zaffar Akbar Bhat thanked Pakistan and its people for supporting Kashmir cause and expressing their concern for Kashmiris. Zaffar AKbar Bhat in a statement while thanking Pakistan government for extending moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris said Pakistan is making great efforts to attract attention of people across the world towards rights violations by Indian forces in Kashmir. He said Kashmiri freedom struggle is an indigenous struggle and the Kashmiris continue their struggle amidst great hurdles. He said that Kashmiris have suffered Indian atrocities for the last 62 years adding that Pakistan would continue its support for Kashimiris. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday has said that Kashmir issue constituted the corner stone of foreign policy of Pakistan that could not be ignored. “Kashmir is the issue of whole country, and our total moral support is with the Kashmiri brothers,” the Prime Minister said while responding to a Point of Order of JUI-F leader Maulana Fazl ur Rahman in the National Assembly on Thursday.
Bhat also expressed grave concern over the discovered several unmarked graves containing about 1,500 unidentified bodies in Kashmir which was disclosed by the report of prominent rights group in Srinagar. Researchers from the Association of Parents of Disappeared People, or APDP, says at least eight of the graves held more than one body. "We have found more graves of about 1,500 people buried as unidentified in three remote districts during our ongoing survey," Pervez Imroz, the group's lawyer, told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday. "We've found that at least eight are mass graves as they contain more than one body." The latest report from the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipore is part of the APDP's ongoing survey of the northern parts of Kashmir valley.
