Senior Hurriyat Leader Zaffar Akbar Bhat was arrested at Kralpora while he was leading the protest rally against human rights violations from Wathora to Srinagar. In his speach at wathora chowk while addressing the protest gathering he condemned the human rights violations, atrocities, inhuman treatment of prisoners, custodial killings and excessive use of force on people who had gathered to mourn the brutal killing of Arif Ayub by security forces. He further said that no dialogue with India was possible unless the draconian laws like AFSPA, PSA etc. were repealed. Zaffar Akber Bhat said that the presence of Indian forces in large numbers in J&k was solely responsible for these excesses and violations committed by Indian forces in Kashmir. In this context he appealed to whole world community particularly to USA, EU &OIC to pressurize India to withdraw its troops from Kashmir so as to find a durable and long lasting solution to the Kashmir issue . In his address Zaffar Akbar Bhat urged upon India to withdraw its troops from Kashmir without any delay so that the sincerity on the part of Indian Govt. to solve the Kashmir issue through dialogue process is proved. He further said that unresolved Kashmir issue hinders the peace and prosperity in sub continent.
Zaffar Akbar Bhat also expressed serious concern over the present situation in Pakistan. While extending solidarity with the victims of Lahore blast, he strongly condemned it and termed such acts as brutal, inhuman and terrorist activities .He urged Taliban to shun the path of violence and start dialogue process to reach a justified solution. He further said that such activities caused a great harm to the cause of Islam and Pakistan as well.
