Hurriyat Conference on flayed the administration for placing under house arrest the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, to put curbs on his political activities. Condemning the Zaffar’s house arrest, the Hurriyat termed it unjustifiable and undemocratic step. spokesman of the Hurriyat said such repressive steps by the authorities could not suppress the ongoing freedom movement. “The whole Valley was virtually turned into a police state and Hurriyat leadership placed under house arrest on Wednesday on the arrival of Indian prime minister,” he said.
